  • What is a virtual race?
  • Will my virtual results be posted?
  • What will I get for completing the virtual race?
    • Personalized race number, event shirt, and your finisher’s medal. If you are completing your 5th consecutive Typhoon Texas Kids Triathlon, you’ll also receive your medal display to show off all 5 of your finishers medals.
  • What if I don’t have access to a pool to swim or place to swim?
    • We are going to be very flexible on the completion of the prescribed race. If you don’t have access to a pool or place to swim, we recommend substituting a ½ mile run for the short course swim and 1 mile run for the long course swim.
  • Do I have to complete all three events at once?
    • You don’t have to do all three disciplines at once but we encourage you to try to get all three done within a single day. However, if you would like to spread the exercises out over several days, you are more than welcome to do so.
  • What if I don’t want to do the virtual race?
    • We have enabled the option to defer your entry to the 2021 event. There are limited spaces available (300) and we have set a cutoff for Friday, April 3rd at 11:59pm to select this option. Once the limit is met or the cutoff has passed, we cannot accept any additional deferrals.   • Why are you limiting the number of deferrals?
    • We have to limit the number of deferrals to ensure we can continue putting on this event in future years. Race items have already been purchased, non-refundable deposits for rentals have already been paid, timing chips have already been purchased, etc. These expenses do not roll over to next year’s event. We have to cover all the costs again for all participants that defer their entry. With a limited number of registrations available each year, we have to be mindful of future expenses.
  • Why didn’t you reschedule/postpone the event?
    • In discussions with the waterpark we talked through various scenarios regarding potentially rescheduling the event. With the extreme uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 situation and the fact that large event gatherings such as this were the first to be disallowed and, most likely, the last to be allowed once restrictions are eased along with the waterpark’s existing schedule, it was decided to not be the best course of action.
  • Why can’t I get a refund?
    • Race items have already been purchased, non-refundable deposits for rentals have already been paid, timing chips have already been purchased, etc. Over 75% of the costs to produce an event are paid out 8 or more weeks before the race.
  • What will happen to the extra waterpark tickets (and/or other add-ons) I purchased?
    • As mentioned in the email, refunds will be processed for all add-ons purchased. This will take some time as we have to go through every registration individually to process everything. Our goal is to have this completed within a week but we are asking that you allow us up to 2-3 weeks to get everything resolved.
  • How does the deferral work?
    • When registration opens for next year's event (most likely in late September or early October), you will receive a link to register for the event.
  • What happens if I can’t register right away using the link?
    • The link will remain active for as long as registration is opened but is subject to event sellout. We ask that everyone use their link as soon as possible but we will make sure to keep spots reserved for all deferred participants up to a certain date. The date will be announced when you receive your link.
  • What if I can’t make the date of the 2021 race?
    • We will be allowing 2nd year deferrals, meaning you can defer that entry to the 2022 event. Instructions for that will be provided when we send the 2021 registration link.
  • I purchased store items, how can I get those?
    • We’ll be mailing items purchased from the event store with the virtual packets. If you have elected to defer your entry, we’ll mail your purchased items when we put together the virtual packets.
